As we celebrate Labor Day, I thought I’d blog about a bird that truly labors every moment of every day. The Ruby-Throated Hummingbird beats its wings up to 100 times a second. He drinks the nectar from flowering plants and eats insects. He has to eat so regularly that at any point, he’s only hours away from death.
My mom and I have been trying to attract hummingbirds to our gardens. Yesterday I had the fun of photographing one of my mom’s hummers. He came to her Mexican Bush Sage, then to her feeder.
