Rich and I went to Bok Tower this morning. The swans swam right up to us and let me take some cool pictures, but we didn’t really see too many other birds. We heard some exciting sounds though – there are definitely some hummingbirds wintering at Bok Tower, even if we didn’t see them!

Mum-mum asked for a close-up picture of a goldfinch in non-breeding plumage. Here you go! This guy is actually a tiny bit brighter than most. It makes me wish for April when the birds will be bright yellow again…but then they leave us… :(

We started off the new year with lots of birds! It’s the time of year when flocks of red-winged blackbirds and brown-headed cowbirds descend upon the big feeder in the backyard. We’ve also had a significant increase in goldfinches in the last week or so. We’re now seeing about 20 at a time, at the niger seed feeders and at the sunflower seed feeders. Perhaps it has something to do with putting out the 20 port feeder again? ;-)
